I’ve been working on and off for the past 2 years or so on the first issue of Starling, and I finally assembled the selection of work I want to show within its pages. Now “all” that needs to be done is the cover…

For the better part of the last two weeks I’ve been spending my evenings and weekends toiling away at logo and poster concepts for the movie adaptation of the cult graphic novel “Fistful of Blood” by Kevin Eastman (!) and Simon Bisley (!), with Digger T. Mesch (of Art Asylum fame) in the directors chair and my friend Liam Sharp as AD. At the moment we’re knee-deep in pre-production, creating key art and visuals, my role thus far is the overall graphic design for the movie: primarily the logo, posters and title cards at a later stage.
We’ve got a pretty interesting group of people involved in this, and even though this is still early days in the development stage, this could potentially be a big deal, especially with Eastman & Co involved (and a new Heavy Metal movie in the works). Anyway, the coming weeks and months will prove interesting and I’ll post bits and pieces as they become cleared for public broadcasting.
I’ve created a Fistful of Blood Flickr set where I will add all movie related design and concept sketches as we progress.

Misc. 3D Renders, originally uploaded by helloMuller.
More random 3D play. Well, maybe not as random as it seems… Been working on another illustration for WIRED Magazine (this image has nothing to do with it), which kind of got me off on a tangent again digging up old models and breaking them to get new stuff out of it all.
Hopefully I’ll have some time the coming months to apply it to some personal projects.

Coming soon (probably next year) is the first issue of Starling, featuring yours truly.
Starling is a new series of art books edited by pal Ashley Wood and will be published by IDW Publishing.
Starling is part of the Swallow and Sparrow series of art books and magazines that Ashley and IDW have been putting out for a couple of years (you should check those out!). Where the former are more geared towards art & illustration, Starling will be focusing more on design and other related creative fields, and Ash asked me to kick off the series.
More news and announcements on this once the book will go in production.

Cover design-in-progress for St. Cyborgs, an upcoming SF novel for Mam Tor™ Publishing

Its 11.30PM now, and by now I should be in bed reading. Instead, I’m staring at my screen looking at the painfully slow progress bar in After Effects as I’m making a draft render of an animated sequence I’m submitting for an upcoming gallery exhibit in London and Berlin (no I can’t say what it is, because I don’t even know if my work will be accepted).
I started way too late on this thing… it has been a while since I’ve done any animation/After Effects work. I ended up reworking a concept that I started work on in 2003 for another animation project that never saw the light of day. I had done all the prelims, but somehow the whole project died a quiet death. So now this thing comes along and its the perfect excuse to dust off After Effects, revist the idea and do it properly this time…
