Working on designing a complete typeface. Usually when I’m designing logos or mastheads, I limit myself to only the letters I need for the project. That approach is pretty narrow-minded in the sense that I don’t consider the “rules” for the typeface which gives problems once I entertain the thought of expanding 5 or 10 charachters into a full set. This time around I was working on a logo — with letterforms heavily inspired by the classic Hiroshima poster by Wim Crouwel — and actually made a consious effort to have some design rules for consistency in the back of my head while designing letterforms. So now the logo is done and have just expanded it to the full 26 charachter set. Of course now come all the ligatures and whatnot to make it a complete workable font.
