oneironaut in progress

2 years ago I wrote and designed a short SF story “Oneironaut“, which was published in the first issue of Mam Tor: Event Horizon™, and ever since I’ve been toying with the idea of expanding the 8 page sequence to a “proper” graphic novel, or novella.

The material also lends itself to do something interactive, or even move back to animated graphics – truth to be told I haven’t really made up my mind yet which avenue I’ll persue first. Of course, if I’d go down the graphic novel route I’ll need to find a publisher… Only problem is, what I want to do is neither what you’d normally associate with the term “graphic novel”, and its neither an “illustrated novel” – I’m looking to explore the actual word of what a “graphic-novel” can be.
At some point I feel it’ll look more like a “design book” than anything else… but on the other hand I want to crack the traditional graphic novel format, and see how far the medium can be pushed/stretched/broken down without losing its recognisability.

Anyway - these are the first 4 images of the book (lets call it a book for now), which probably will change over time when the rest of the pages materialise.

Tom, these pages look great! I’m a big fan of your designs and would love to see a graphic novel from you. Can’t wait to see more.
